Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Selous Game Reserve

Flight to the Selous Game Reserve which you reach before around lunch time. After settling into your tent, you go on a boat trip on the Rufiji River where crocodiles, hippos and grazing game can be seen. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2 and 3: Selous Game Reserve

Two full days of game drives at Selous Game Reserve named after the explorer Frederick Selous. The Selous Game Reserve is the largest protected wildlife reserve, a UN World Heritage site and a pristine uninhabited area larger than Switzerland. The topography of the park varies from rolling savannah woodland, grassland plain and rocky outcrops cut by the Rufiji River and its tributaries. Activities are game drives and a walking safari. Together with an armed ranger or Maasai guide you explore the bush by walk. You have the option of a full day game drives with lunch boxes or 2 half-day drives with lunch at the lodge. Dinner and overnight

Day 4: Selous – Ruaha

After breakfast, flight to Ruaha National Park. Arrival at the camp and settle in your tent, relax and after lunch half-day game drive. Dinner and overnight in the camp.

Day 5 and 6: Ruaha

Two full days of game driving at Ruaha National Park, with picnic lunches. Ruaha has an area of 10,300sq.km, and is the second largest park, and second largest elephant sanctuary in Tanzania. The great Ruaha River that flows along its entire eastern border creates spectacular gorges and scenery, and features a large number of hippos and crocodiles. The wide variety of animals that inhabit the park include both Greater and Lesser Kudu, roan and sable antelope. Bird life is also rich, with over 370 species recorded. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 7: Ruaha – Arusha

Mid-morning flight to Arusha for arrival around lunchtime. Continuation of your safari in the Northern Circuit.
